ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project Dive Deep Into Experiential.. aims to create a learning opportunity for youth leaders, trainers and facilitators to increasing their competencies in using experiential education methodology and in particular working with outdoor activities. The training course will contribute to the development of professional skills and competencies of the youth workers in the sphere of non-formal education and experiential learning.

The aim of the training is to develop youth workers’ skills and toolboxes for working with young people through experiential education methodology. This will be implemented in indoor & outdoor environment, especially within outdoor 2-days hiking expedition in Slovak mountains.

The objectives of the training course are the following:
  • To empower participants in order to facilitate and lead individual and group developmental processes
  • To support participants to enhance their authentic style in facilitating groups and leading teams
  • To train participants’ facilitation and leading skills, such as: reflecting, active listening, mirroring, giving and receiving feedback, etc.
  • To develop participants’ inner readiness in facilitating groups and leading teams​​

The long term goal of the project is for the trained workers and youth leaders to empower the participants to initiate personal development programs and projects, based on experiential education in their own organizations and countries and to increase the quality of experiential programs in the region.

The training course is inspired by the work of Via Experientia -  an informal European organization, carrying out long term training courses in experiential education and personal development. The official working language will be English. Most of the activities will be conducted outdoors and an expedition will be a part of the program of the training course.
What will you get from this training course?
During this project you will be able to develop (any of) the following:
  • Learn to lead individual and group developmental processes. 
  • Develop facilitation and leading skills, such as: reflecting, active listening, mirroring, giving and receiving feedback etc. 
  • Develop process-oriented facilitation skills.
  • Learn to introduce the concept of reflective practice. 
  • Develop your inner readiness in facilitating groups and leading teams. 
  • Familiarize yourself with process-oriented experiential learning concepts and practices, which are relevant to leadership and group facilitation.
  • Get engaged in a multicultural setting, in which will be shared best practices and experiences. You will discuss differences and similarities in using experiential methods.
  • Practice the acquired skills in an intercultural setting.
  • Become part of a network, which will enable you to potentially find partners for.
Outdoor expedition
There will be an outdoor hiking expedition in Slovak mountains.
You will be camping overnight and preparing meals outdoors as a team. The expedition will serve as a tool for challenging yourself and expanding personal limits.


All group outdoor equipment will be provided by the organizers, e.g. tents, stoves, outdoor cooking pots etc. If you have your personal equipment, feel free to bring it with you if you wish. You will need to bring your own clothing and shoes suitable for outdoor activities, including a sleeping bag and a sleeping mat if you have one. Please be ready to get cold during the expedition.

Arturas Deltuva (Lithuania)

Consultant, psychologist, PhD in social sciences. Consulting and educating educators, human resource experts, team leaders and teams about themselves and their work, communication, relationships and cooperation with other people, in achieving goals.
All knowledge and experience is rooted from the youth work field - work with your at risk, youth leaders, and youth workers, youth trainers youth civil servants. 
In the field of experiential education since 1998.

Dirk De Vilder (Belgium)

Free- lance trainer specialised in (multicultural) teamwork, leadership change management, conflict resolution, project management, personal development and train the trainers programmes.
Dirk is a programme director and consultant at Outward Bound Belgium.
His passion is trail running and mountain-biking, travelling and organizing different  cultural and sports events in his village.

Peter Huray
(Slovakia)

Trainer and consultant of experiential learning, working around communication, teamwork and design of educational programmes. 
He loves to work with people in natural learning enviornments, using outdoor education as a strong tool for personal development. 
He has worked as a youth worker in Slovakia, Spain and Turkey, where he was exploring nature by hiking with local young people.
Currently he lives in Slovakia and works as a consultant for several business & non-profit institutions.

Mariya Georgieva (Slovakia)

An experiential educator with a strong passion for working in the outdoors and just being outdoors for the sake of it!
Originally from Bulgaria, she has worked and lived in different countries in Europe and Asia, which served as an eye-opener for her about how diverse the world is.  Over the past seven years, Mariya has worked with Outward Bound as a trainer and project coordinator. Currently, she is working in Slovakia with youth in both formal and non-formal education contexts and leading educator trainings in soft and hard skills.

The project will happen in face-to-face (residential) settings. Check your government guideliness regarding travel and Co-Vid situation. We will be monitoring the situation and inform you about any relevant steps.
Each participant will be reimbursed individually according to Erasmus+ rules. Limits stated above are maximum amount that can be reimbursed per individual. Participants will be reimbursed only upon presenting all valid documents (invoices, tickets, boarding passes, bills). Please plan your travel routes, so you come at latest on 22.3. to the venue and leave earliest on 1.4. in the morning.
